BIOMECHANICAL/ FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION

On your initial appointment, you will be evaluated with specific movements and motions that pertain to your sport or symptoms. This allows us to properly pinpoint areas that may be causing your pain, discomfort, or the altered biomechanics leading to decreased performance. With this information, we can then treat the structures involved with specific modalities to help you return to normal activity or reach that PR you have been working for.

CHIROPRACTIC MANIPULATION

Once objectively identified, spinal, pelvic and extremity malposition’s / subluxations (fixated joints) are treated with specific chiropractic adjustments (manipulations). Chiropractic adjustments are safe, and are the most effective way to treat joint issues like acute low back and neck pain. The adjustments restore each joint to its appropriate anatomic position, enhance range of motion, and release the adhesions to the surrounding ligaments causing the problem. We have found that if the joint mechanics are not corrected, soft tissue treatment or rehabilitation will not be successful or will take far too long to accomplish the desired goals.

ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE (A.R.T)

ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART®.

The Graston Technique®

The Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. It is a great treatment most notably for low back and neck pain, IT band syndrome, muscle pain, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, and tennis/golfer’s elbow

FAKTR (pronounced FACTOR)

FAKTR is a concept, not a technique. The acronym stands for Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab. This treatment includes function and treatment of the kinetic chain while utilizing various forms of rehabilitation at the same time. Also incorporated is treatment in the position of provocation and during motion. FAKTR can be utilized to treat a multitude of soft tissue or structural conditions that are not easily treated with other modalities like IT band syndrome, hip pain, shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, and tennis elbow.

CORRECTIVE EXERCISES

We prescribe a series of specific movements for each patient designed to facilitate the healing process. These corrective exercises help to decrease pain, restore muscular balance, improve proprioception, core strength, flexibility, and stability to prevent future injuries. The exercise programs teach the patient how to prevent the pain from re-occurring so that they do not have to frequently return to the therapist.

PHYSIOTHERAPY MODALITIES

Along with our other therapies, many different physiotherapy devices that we employ aide in the healing process. The following devices/tools are utilized: Electrical Muscle Stimulation, Ultrasound Therapy, Cold Laser Light Therapy, Moist Heat Packs, and ice.

KINESIOLOGY

Kinesio® Taping is used to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain, optimize performance, prevent injury, and promote improved circulation and healing. Kinesiology Tape is applied along muscles, ligaments, and tendons to provide support that helps to prevent injury and speed recovery. This method works differently for different injuries. Taping can provide relief for conditions like rotator cuff syndrome, IT band syndrome, low back and neck pain, and muscle strains and ankle sprains. This taping method can also reduce inflammation and increase circulation, which prevents muscle cramping and lactic acid buildup.
